It’s a long bathroom with over a dozen stalls. There aren’t a lot of people around, so Samuel might not care, but it’s better than being out here in the open. It will be nearly impossible since the ghosts can all see. Security doesn’t open for another two hours.

There is no line, and I rush toward it but stop dead. As soon as I’m through, Samuel will be history. The ghosts are all here, and they follow me up toward the security gates. I find the ticket counter and totally overpay for a flight home. My stomach is a bundle of nerves, but I have to keep moving. I check the monitors, and a few ghosts stand way too close to me. If I can get past security before Samuel gets here, I should be good to go. I storm away from him, but he doesn’t follow. I wanted so badly for both him and Samuel to be good guys. “I don’t know what you’re talking about.” Not just Benny but all the ghosts from the island. It’s quiet for an airport, but then again, it’s the middle of the night. He just stands there, so I quickly make my way past him. I expect Benny to argue or fight, but he doesn’t. Besides, I like Samuel more.” I don’t look at Benny’s face. Maybe I like him.”īenny doesn’t say anything for a moment. “That kiss was more passionate than someone simply fulfilling a deal.” I want to reach over and try it, but I hold myself back. I’ve gotten very good at avoiding touches. If you tried to touch me, your hand would pass right through. “I can make myself visible off-island, but I’m not…whole. He pats the seat next to him, but I don’t sit down, so he stands. “Why’d you kiss him?” Benny frowns at me.
